Meet Indigenous Artist Antonia His Law at Colter Bay!

Join us August 4 – 10 at the Colter Bay Visitor Center for the Indigenous Arts & Cultural Demonstration Program featuring Antonia His Law, an Eastern Shoshone artist from the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Her given name is Wahnave (Cedar Girl), given to her by my grandfather who was a medicine man of their tribe.

Antonia is a Beader, and learned to bead from her mother and grandmother. Beading is a part of her life and something she can sit and bond with her mother and daughters. Knowing she can bead beautiful items for her customers and family makes her happy. Grand Teton National Park was the ancestral homeland to her Shoshone People.

Artist Biography:

My name is Antonia His Law, maiden name Hill/Tidzump. My given name is Wahnave (Cedar Girl). It was given to me by my grandfather, who was a medicine man of our tribe. I am an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe from the Wind River Reservation of Wyoming.

I was born and raised in For Washakie, Wyoming. I am a Beader, and have learned to bead from my mother and my grandmother. Beading is a part of my life and something I can sit and bond with my mother and my daughters. Knowing I can bead beautiful items for my customers and my family makes me happy.

Grand Teton National Park was the ancestral homeland to my Shoshone People.

This week, we are spotlighting one of our amazing vendors! Rachel Kozlowski, owner of RKArtwork is a full-time artist based in Salt Lake City.

Rachel studied fine arts and printmaking at the University of Delaware. Now, she runs her business entirely alone, which she has owned for 10 years. “It’s amazing to be able to be a full-time artist. Much of my work is nature and wildlife centered,” she said. “I get to create work that people resonate with.”

She crafts what she calls “functional items that have a connection to nature,” including zippered pouches with wildlife themes, bandanas, stickers, glassware, camp mugs, tea towels and more.

Join us June 16–22 at the Colter Bay Visitor Center for the Indigenous Arts & Cultural Demonstration Program featuring HarmonyStar Straub, an Oglala Lakota and Northern Cheyenne artist who enrolled in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and currently resides in western Nebraska.
