We are proud to celebrate another successful season of the Indigenous Arts and Cultural Demonstration Program in partnership with Grand Teton National Park.
Over the 18-week season from mid-May through late September, more than 27 artists from 15 different tribes offered week-long residencies in Colter Bay, where they connected with thousands of visitors through their crafts and cultural presentations.
This year, artists shared the traditions of their tribes through painting, weaving, pottery, printmaking, beadwork, quillwork, ribbon skirts, star quilts, ledger art, hide painting, native flute music and more. Finished items were offered for purchase.
In addition to featured artist residencies, a speaker series gave visitors an opportunity to learn more about the artists, their crafts and culture throughout the season.
This program has been in place for over 40 years since the mid-1970s and celebrates artists with ancestral and cultural connections to Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway.
